01

What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Local storage is a similar store that stays in the browser and is not sent with each request. This page covers both.

There are two kinds on this site. Strictly necessary ones make the site work and keep it secure. Analytics ones measure how the site is used: they are on from your first visit, and you can turn them off at any time.

02

Everything this site stores in your browser

This is the full list. The names are set by the providers and can change; when they do, we update this table.

Name Set by What it does Type Kept for
ic_consent_v1 Illucrum (local storage) Remembers whether you kept analytics on or turned it off, so the banner doesn't show again. Only set once you make a choice. Strictly necessary Until you change it or clear your browser data
_ga Google Analytics Tells visits from the same browser apart, so they can be counted. Analytics, can be turned off 2 years
_ga_<ID> Google Analytics Keeps track of the current visit. Analytics, can be turned off 2 years
__cf_bm Cloudflare Tells people from automated bots to protect the site. Set only when Cloudflare's bot protection is active. Strictly necessary 30 minutes
cf_clearance Cloudflare Records that your browser passed a Cloudflare security check, so you are not asked again. Set only if you were shown one. Strictly necessary 30 minutes by default

When analytics is off, Google Analytics sets no cookies. Turning analytics off also deletes the analytics cookies already set.

03

Content loaded from other companies

Some parts of our pages come from other companies' servers. They store nothing in your browser for us, but like any web server they receive your IP address when your browser asks them for something.

  • Google Tag Manager loads the analytics tag. It sets no cookies itself.
  • Clutch shows our reviews in a widget and a badge. Clutch may set its own cookies inside them, under Clutch's own cookie policy.

04

Turning analytics off or on

  • Use the banner shown on your first visit, or open Cookie settings from the footer of any page, or here. The change applies straight away: Cookie settings
  • Clearing your browser data for this site deletes your choice: analytics goes back on and the banner shows again.
  • Your browser can block or delete cookies for every site. Look for Privacy or Site settings.
  • Google offers a browser add-on that turns Google Analytics off on every site: Google Analytics opt-out

Turning analytics off changes nothing about how the site works. Every page, the contact form and the checker work the same either way.

05

What we don't use

No advertising or remarketing cookies, no social media pixels, no fingerprinting and no session recording. If that ever changes, this page will say so before anything new runs.
